Goals

Rank and Renown

All members once inducted into the Sehrgariad are “adepts” and are subject to the higher rank of individuals above them. In order to enter the ranks of the Sehrgariad, one must first be invited to join. This invitation process may come from any ranking member of the order or its recruiters. In order to be able to join the faction, you must be a spellcaster.

 

Cost of Power

As a member of the Sehrgariad you have undergone a special ritual and received an insignia to which you are bonded. This insignia is most often worn as an amulet or ring, though other things may be used, such as a staff, wand or even a tattoo. This insignia functions only for you and no others. If it is lost, you may requisition a new one from the order for 100gp, and once again undergo the initiation ritual. The insignia can be used as an arcane focus for your spells and you must use the insignia in order to access any features of the faction.

Any creature not of the order, who wears the insignia, will find that powerful magic protects it. The insignia will continue to double in weight each hour that it is worn by one who is not a member of the Sen’Jerei. After the first hour it weighs 1lbs.

  • Merchants, traders, and peddlers friendly to the Sehrgeriad will grant you a discount on purchasing magical items.

Adept

Renown 1+

As an adept you have been accepted and initiated into the Sehrgariad. You have made a Soulpact, a ritual where you are bound and endowed with additional power and knowledge.

You learn one cantrip from any spell list. Whenever you reach a level in a class that grants the Ability Score Improvement feature, you can replace this cantrip you learned with another.

Soulpact

The Soulpact is an immense reservoir of magical power and knowledge. Mages of the order are linked by the Soulpact allowing them to share in its great power and light. The heart of this power is located within the floating islands of the Sehrgerium Pact. Access to the Soulpact allows one to call knowledge of things unknown and even spells that they would not normally be able to cast. As your training, practice, and connection with the Soulpact widens your access to this power increases allowing you to access new features.

Number of Uses. You may access Soulpact features a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Soulpact Features

You can use your Soulpact features in the following ways:

Burst of Knowledge
Prerequisite: (Renown 1).

As an action you may expend a use of your Soulpact and tap into a burst of collective knowledge. You make an Intelligence skill check and are considered proficient and add double your proficiency bonus to the check, instead of your normal proficiency bonus.

Spell Sigil
Prerequisite: (Renown 5).

As an action you may expend a use of your Soulpact to trace a magical sigil and cast any spell from the Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, or Wizard spell list. The maximum level of spell that you can call is equal to half your level (rounded down). You cast the spell as normal providing the verbal and somatic components, and you must only provide the material component if it costs more than 100gp.

Esoteric Binding
Prerequisite: (Renown 10).

Constant connection to the soulpact has enhanced your mind, allowing you to think beyond normal. You may expend a use of your Soulpact and concentrate on two spells at a time by binding the second spell to the first when cast. The combined spell levels must not exceed the highest spell level you can cast (minimum 2). (For example, a 10th level Cleric could concentrate on a 1st and 4th level spell, or a 2nd and 3rd level spell, etc).

Mystic Fire
Prerequisite: (Renown 15).

Your control over the raw power in the world makes your spells potent at withering the souls of creatures you fight. When you affect a creature with a spell, you may expend a use of your Soulpact to burn at its soul and cause it to lose one action, resistance, or immunity that you have seen it use for 1 minute.

Sigil

Renown 5+

Your access to the Soulpact is widened. You may now expend a use of your Soulpact for the Spell Sigil feature.

Binder

Renown 10+

Constant connection to the soulpact has enhanced your mind. You may now expend a use of your Soulpact for the Esoteric Binding feature.

Mystic

Renown 15+

Your control over the raw power of the world makes your spells potent and penetrate to the very souls of creatures. You gain access to the Mystic Fire feature of your Soulpact.

Archsage

Renown 20 and 14+ Levels

You add +2 to one Ability Score out of Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma. Your maximum for that Ability Score is also increased by 2.
